Tooheys Premier Club of the Year – MEREWETHER
The Club has had an exceptional season, with increased participation on and off the field, fielding a massive 7 teams at the start of the season. The match day experience at Townson Oval this season demonstrated fantastic community engagement bringing together all supporters of Rugby.

Stuart Trench Divisional Club of the Year – GRIFFINS
Griffins have achieved massive tasks this season. After a re-formatted 2020 they have relocated their home ground, fielded an extra Senior men’s team in Friday Night 4s, instigated a schools rugby program that includes 3 primary and 2 secondary schools in West Newcastle. They entered an inaugural U9s, with plans for more teams in 2022. In addition, their Seniors team have experienced multiple wins in 2021, of which they had not enjoyed in recent or past seasons.

Tooheys Club Encouragement Award – GRIFFINS & MEDOWIE
Both of these clubs have made enormous strides in growing all aspects of rugby in our Zone. With participation in extra competitions, Junior programs and teams, facility works, Women’s rugby and a commitment to Club administration, they will continue to flourish and build on already strong foundations.

Spirit of Rugby Award – SOUTHERN BEACHES
The Spirit of Rugby Award is awarded to any club, team, playing group or individual who best exemplifies the attributes of good character, integrity, and sportsmanship.
In 2021 Hunter Rugby would like to recognize Southern Beaches Rugby Club Community (Juniors, Seniors & the Old Salts) for going above and beyond in their support of David Wallace (NRURA Secretary) while he continues to battle his stage 4 diagnosis of skin cancer.
The Southern Beaches Rugby Club Community have been active is bringing awareness and raising funds for Hunter Melanoma Foundation & Beanie for Brain Cancer. Closer to home they ensure David is well looked after and comfortable at all home games. Their kindness and selflessness have no bounds with the Community contributing to painting the inside of David’s house.
With this significant contribution Hunter Rugby are proud to present the Spirit of Rugby Award to Southern Beaches Rugby Community.
