Throughout the NHRU’s 151 year old history, there has only ever been 34 Life Members elected in the NHRU. Life members are nominated to the NHRU Board of Directors by their Hunter Rugby peers for their many years of dedicated service to Rugby in the Region. The Board considers the nomination and assesses the significance of the nominee’s contribution, and if warranted, puts the motion to the members at the NHRU AGM. It is high recognition of an individual’s sustained and significant contribution to the NHRU over many years.
Unbelievably, this year on the 28th August, Brian Rudder organised the first ever NHRU Life Members Lunch of which 7 of the surviving 8 Life Members attended. Attending were (standing to R) Justin Drinkwater, Ron Robson (NHRU Patron), Andrew Walker, Keith Hole.
(Sitting L to R) Brian O’Shea, John Miner, Brian Rudder. Absent was Phil Payne who was caught in Queensland’s Covid Travel restrictions and extremely disappointed not to be there.
NHRU Life Members are Hunter Rugby Royalty and we thank them all, past and present.
