Rugby News Rd 1 – Sat 9 April 2016
General Manager’s Comments:
Great to be kicking off Round 1 of the Rams 2016 Rugby Premiership this Saturday. Several of you attended the 2016 Season Media Launch event on Wednesday night with guest speaker Bill Pulver (ARU CEO) in fine form.
President Paul Coles also announced the following milestones at the launch event:
- Announcement of RAMS HOME LOANS as the major and naming rights sponsor for the 2016, 2017 and 2018 seasons;
- Launch of the new hunterrugby.com.au website; and
- Launch of the weekly local rugby TV show ‘Ruck Off’ to be filmed live and streamed every Thursday night with our media partners BarTV.
Many of you are also attending the season opening luncheon today being hosted by The Hawthorne Club with the guest speaker being Stephen Moore (current Wallaby captain). Should be a great event and thank you to those great supporters of Newcastle Rugby – The Hawthorne Club.
This week’s fixtures sees the BarTV match of the round between The Waratahs v University of Newcastle at Waratah Oval. The Southern Beaches v Maitland clash should be a cracker as well. The links for the BarTV broadcast will be posted on www.hunterrugby.com.au so stay tuned.
Footage from the Wednesday evening’s Season Media Launch can be viewed on last night’s episode of ‘Ruck Off’. In case you missed it you can catch up on the first episode with this link – ‘Ruck Off’ Episode 1 .
A big ‘first ever NHRU comp game’ welcome to Julie Muir who started in the role as Competitions Administrator during the off season, Many of you have already met her (or at least spoke to her on the phone) and I am sure you will all join me in thanking her for her huge efforts in getting us all ready for this coming Saturday’s first round…
Wishing all NHRU Clubs a successful 2016 season on and off the field and thank goodness the rugby is about to start……
